New building - built

The project is part of a general program of actions for the environmental regeneration of a former quarry, abandoned in the Sixties, into an urban park.

The theme of the project is the composition of simple volumes on a base. It was inspired by the existing situation, the natural sloping of the terrain towards the water. The base lies on the real slope of the site, based on which it is articulated and diversified.

The decision to employ a construction system of steel beams, columns and slabs derives from the intention to enhance the relationship and the dialogue between the building, the water and the forest, while highlighting the building’s vocation to openness, circulation and penetration.

The idea of opening to nature, underlined both by the choice of materials (wood, metal, glass) and by the figurative elements (the large windows looking out to the water in the restaurant and the thick vegetation of the bar space) is emphasized outdoors by the creation of a long metal canopy that covers the part of the terrace directly facing the lake. The stainless steel windows and the softness of the wood finishes combine to create a simple space defined by natural and lasting materials, light colors and ample surfaces.

The horizontal forms of the architecture draw their reference from the horizontal plane of the lake and stand out cleanly against the green of the trees, which constitute an ideal backdrop for the pure and crisp design and their reflection in the water.
