The project develops architectural and figurative experimentation exploring American Pop imagery of the 1950’s. Not just to borrow the iconographic repertory but to recreate the spirit. The project therefore intends to refer to this model but to reach beyond it, taking into account the contemporary needs of this sort of venue. This premise led to several design decisions including the use of colour and the division into functional spaces. The colour expresses vitality and energy whereas the division is simply functional but not spatial, in that the space seeks to unites not to divide.
